Whenever I pack my bag to hit the road again, I am always very conscious of how much weight I have in my bag and I generally endeavor to keep it as light as I possibly can. There are however, some absolute essentials which I need for my time on the road which I simply couldn’t leave home without, and here are 5 of them.
Portable Wifi
If I am disconnected from wifi for too long I end up in cold sweats and so I always like to ensure that I can connect to the internet wherever I am. For this reason one of the first items to go in my suitcase is a portable wifi device. This device picks up the mobile signal wherever I am and allows me to use the internet on my phone or my laptop. I rely on the internet for my blogging and to keep in touch with family and friends and without it I really struggle.
Camera
Even though I have a camera on my phone, the quality is nowhere near what I need to take shots of my time away and so I always make sure that I take my camera with me. There are risks attached to this of course such as theft and damage but the camera I have actually connects to wifi and uploads my photos straight to cloud storage. This means that whatever happens to my camera, I’ll never lose those memorable pictures.
Noise Canceling Headphones
No matter where I am in the world I love nothing more than discovering some new music or drifting iff with one of my favorite albums. In the past I had issues with this though whenever I was traveling on a plane or a noisy bus. I decided to invest in some noise canceling headphones and it turned out to be a smart move. If you need to take some time out when the decibels are too high, these headphones are the perfect solution.
Immodium
Traveling is not always sunshine and rainbows and there are going to be times that you get sick. The worst type of illness to have in my view is after you have eaten something which has not agreed with you and the toilet becomes your new best friend. This is fine when you are staying somewhere for a while but if you have a bus trip coming up and you are not in a good way, Immodium can help to keep everything in place so that your trip runs as smoothly as possible.
Phone
I simply could not travel without my smartphone, I use it for maps, for translations, for keeping in touch with the people I care about and for connecting with new friends. I love how many things we can do these days with our mobile phones and if I ever lost it or had it stolen I do not know what I would do.
